Written yesterday:

Calhan rolled over for the first time yesterday! You can see foryourself in the video. It is so adorable to watch him. He looks a little stunned when he flips over to his back, but then gives you the biggest smile! He is such a great baby.

Well, I have gotten mastitis for the FOURTH time since Cal was born. This means I have been on antibiotics for 40 of the last 90 days. That is a lot! So I think this is God’s way of telling me that I need to wean. After the second time, the doctor told me that if I got it again I needed to seriously consider weaning. The problem is that I could become resistant to the antibiotics if I continue to take them. So I guess the time has come to wean. I have a deep freezer ¾ the way full of breastmilk to give him. I have also tried giving him some formula to make sure he will tolerate it. He seems to tolerate it just fine. He may spit up a little more, but it does not seem to bother him too much. It is very painful and difficult to wean. It is bittersweet. I am looking forward to be free of my pump, but I am feeling really guilty about it. It will take me awhile to completely be done because if I do it too fast, I may get mastitis again. I am taking it slow and hope to have the whole process done by the National Championship game. We are lucky enough to get tickets (thanks to Catherine and Jimmy Ellspermann) and it would be nice not to worry about how I will pump or think about manually pumping in a public restroom.

My parents will be coming up to visit with us for Christmas this year. We will enjoy visiting with family at Dawson’s mom’s house on Christmas Day. Chase is really getting into the Christmas spirit this year. He loves to watch the Christmas movies and eat cookies. Tomorrow, I hope to make Christmas cookies with him for Santa. I am really looking forward to watching the look of shock and awe when he sees the presents Santa has left under the tree for him.

Dawson and I got our Christmas gift early this year…He still has a job at Wyndham. They had a second round of layoffs and this time it was a huge number of people let go. Fortunately, they can see what an asset Dawson is to the company and he is safe. I actually went to work today at the Adult CF Center today. My first day working without having Cal with me. Dawson is home with the kids. It was nice to get out, but I miss my little ones.

Have a Merry Christmas!
